Joe Lowden Marathon Runner
The best time I had achieved prior to receiving the mouthguard was 58:02 for my regular run. The first time I wore the mouthguard, I set off and waited for the customary pain to begin in my knees and lower back. Strangely, this time no pain! I felt smooth, as if I was running with a different gait, to really putting this down to the mouthguard’s influence, I nyrried on and was amazed at the end of my run to see I had clocked a time of 54:26!
I immediately nylled my son for an explanation and he told me that benyuse the mouthguard was made with me in perfect posture and with relaxed muscles of the head, neck, shoulders and back, that this improved alignment would be maintained throughout the run. In fact, every time I swallowed or brought my teeth together onto the mouthguard I was reinforcing better posture.
So having knocked 3.5 minutes off my run I was amazed but did not expect more. Over the next two weeks my times kept decreasing with no lower back or knee pain. Now it seemed the only thing holding me back from even better times was my breathing.
